** Update as of 7 PM on March 16th. - Due to the present health situation concerning the Coronavirus Outbreak, the family is going to be closing the services to the public in order to keep the family and the many friends of Joe as safe as possible. They understand that this is a last minute decision and that not everyone will be aware of this change in their plans and they are sorry for any inconvenience. They also ask that those who wish to attend the service please sign and leave any memories or condolences or photos in the online guestbook. They wish to thank you in advance for your understanding.
OBITUARY-
J. Joseph Murray, of Wynnewood and former longtime resident of Ardmore, PA., passed away on March 11, 2020 at The Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 88.
Son of the late John Milton Murray and Cecilia G. Maher Murray, Joe was born in Philadelphia on January 16, 1932. Joe was an Irish Tenor, an avid golfer and member of McCall Country Club. More than anything though, he loved being "Pop" to his 6 grandchildren.
Joe was the beloved husband of Nancy C. Murray (nee Spinosi). Devoted father of Cecilia Susan Murray, Anthony Joseph Murray (Janine) and the late John Joseph Murray (Ann) and Kenneth Anthony Murray. Loving "Pop" of Brendan Michael Murray, Kevin Joseph Murray, John Thomas Murray, Finnegan Joseph Murray, Tynan Cecilia Murray and Declan Anthony Murray. Dear brother of Jane Porter and the late Dorothy Berry.
Relatives and friends are invited on Tuesday March 17th to a Viewing at 9 AM with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM at St. Colman Church, Lancaster Ave & Argyle Rd., Ardmore, PA. Interment will follow in St. Dominic Cemetery in Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to CHOP.
