Heidi Hayes Johnson of Bryn Mawr, PA died peacefully on October 17, 2026 at the age of 67 after a fight with pancreatic cancer. Born in Marshfield WI, Heidi held a Bachelors in Music from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire as well as a Masters in Music from the University of Nebraska. Throughout her career she became well known as a versatile soprano and vocal teacher having sung across many genres such as opera, musical theater, oratorio, & cabaret, occasionally accompanying singers on the piano or in shows as an accordionist. She taught all forms of music, primarily at Muhlenberg College, the Walnut Street Theatre, & in her private studio. Many of her students found success performing in musical theater shows locally and in New York, Chicago, or as members of touring groups.

Heidi loved to travel & could often be found knitting while planning her next international escapade. She was also a voracious reader and requested that donations be made to Ludington Library in Bryn Mawr at lmls.org/donate in place of flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Johnson, son Nicholas and his wife Kalli, step-daughter Kirsten and her husband John with their three daughters, Madison, Grace and MacKenzie, as well as sisters Carla, Wanda, Penny, Mary, Martha and brother Timothy along with their spouses and children.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
