Obituary

Hannah Kirsch (nee McGarvey) of Springfield, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 7, 2022.  Hannah was the beloved wife of David T. Kirsch, her loving husband of 63 years.

In addition to David, Hannah is survived by their children including Diane (Steven), David Jr. (Maureen), Martin (Kathleen), Joanne (Robert), and Stephen (Anne).

Hannah's love of family extended to her devotion to her 17 grandchildren who reciprocated it: Meghan Pealer, Erin Wagner (Andrew), Kevin Pealer, Corinne Pealer, MaryElise Pealer, Jessica Delizio (Braedon), Rebecca Kirsch, Hannah Kirsch, Jack Kirsch, Caroline Kirsch, Sydney Stafford, Maggie Quezada (Kevin), Julian Roig, Isabelle Roig, Kristin Yeager (Christian), Charlie Kirsch, and Danny Kirsch.  Hannah was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild, "Baby Wagner", this March.

Hannah was born the ninth of ten children to Hugh and Mary McGarvey in Radnor, Pennsylvania on February 16, 1933.  The children were raised in the town of Wayne, Pennsylvania, located along the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Main Line."  Hannah's siblings included Susan, Charlie, Jeanne, Kathleen, Marie, Peggy, John, Rosie, and Sallie. Her parents entertained many friends and family who, like themselves, had emigrated from Ireland.  Their home was filled with the love and music of their Irish (County Donegal) heritage.

Hannah attended grade school and high school at Saint Katherine of Siena in Wayne, where she met many life-long friends.  Hannah was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing competitive basketball for St. Katherine's.  When not in school, the family spent many summer days in Ocean City and Stone Harbor, NJ. After graduating high school, Hannah worked at various secretarial jobs, including the Marcal Paper Company.

Hannah loved her family more than anything and so went on to create one of her own with her beloved, David Kirsch.  David also was a life-long resident of Wayne and the couple had known each other since grade school. They began dating after high school enjoying CYO dances, going to the movies, and family gatherings.  Hannah and Dave were married on  May 2, 1959, and began their married life together in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Dave soon joined the firm Paul W. Getz & Associates, as an architectural draftsman for projects throughout the Philadelphia Suburbs. The firm was located at that time in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, which prompted the family to move to Westgate Hills in Havertown.

Hannah took loving care of her family and enjoyed the life-long friendship of wonderful Westgate Hills neighbors, including The Hinckens, the Carrs, the Kings, and the Rothsteins.  As their children grew, the family would move to Broomall, PA.  Hannah took a few part-time jobs; her favorite was being part of the administrative support staff at Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor, PA. Hannah and Dave eventually would downsize to a beautiful, smaller home and neighborhood in Springfield, PA.  Hannah was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing tennis with Dave.  She enjoyed following the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and Villanova basketball teams.  She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, discussing current events, and hosting and attending special family dinners.

She will be thought of every day and missed dearly.

I Thought of You Today

I thought of you with love today,

but that is nothing new.

I thought about you yesterday and

days before that too.

I think of you in silence.

I often speak your name.

All I have are memories and

your picture in a frame.

Your memory is my keepsake

with which I'll never part.

God has you in His keeping;

I have you in my heart.
