Obituary

H. Virginia "Ginnie" Burlingame (née Frankenfield) of Radnor, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her girls, Katherine "Katie" and Elizabeth, as well as her son-in-law Kenneth "Kenny" on July 29, 2025 at her home of almost 57 years.

Born on September 9, 1943 in Drexel Hill, she was the daughter of the late A. Virginia "Nan" and Oscar Frankenfield. She is survived by her beloved daughters Katherine Anne Burlingame and Elizabeth Christine Burlingame Gray (Kenneth), many nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends. She was also preceded in death by her cherished husband Gordon Matthew "Skip" Burlingame, their baby boy Christopher Mark Burlingame, brothers Robert "Bob" (Linda) and William "Bill" (Regina), mother and father-in-laws Gordon M. And Christine Burlingame, and sister-in-law Christina "Tina" Gilhool (William).

As a very young girl, Ginnie moved with her family to Stone Harbor, NJ during World War II where she spent her formative years. She attended Stone Harbor Public School, Middle Township High School, and eventually West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing. Upon completion of her education, she worked as an X-ray technician/radiographer where she gained significant knowledge in nuclear medicine.

Ginnie Frankenfield met the love of her life, Skip Burlingame, at Fred's Tavern in Stone Harbor in the late 1960s. After a brief courtship, they were united in marriage on April 12, 1969, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Ginnie and Skip shared one of the greatest love stories of all time. Together with each other's love and support, they raised two daughters while both managing successful careers and conquering health problems along the way.

Ginnie led an award-winning career as a Realtor on the Main Line for almost 40 years, holding steadfast with essentially the same company for the span of her career, starting with Robert Bruce which became Merrill Lynch Realty and then Prudential Preferred Properties followed by Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors and most recently Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors.

In addition to her career in real estate, Ginnie was on the Women's Committee at St. Edmond's Home for Children, chaired fundraising events for her children's school St. Thomas-Good Counsel in Bryn Mawr, and was also a Eucharistic Minister and very active member of St. Thomas of Villanova parish.

Ginnie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially traveling with extended family to Stone Harbor, Avalon, and Cape May in New Jersey, Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire, and Lake Harmony in the Pocono Mountains. Additionally, every spring for over 20 years, Ginnie and Skip attended the March Madness NCAA Tournament with dear friends. They were also lifelong supporters of Villanova Basketball and legacy members of Aronimink Golf Club.

Ginnie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She loved fiercely and was an invaluable advocate most notably for her husband's health throughout the decades as well as her own health and that of her family and friends. Ginnie herself was a two-time survivor of breast cancer. In the end, just over five years after the trauma of losing Skip, she lost her battle with dementia. Ginnie will be deeply missed by her family and dear friends, but solace will be found knowing she is reunited in heaven with Skip.

Relatives and friends are invited on Monday August 11th to a Visitation beginning at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on the Villanova University Campus, 800 Lancaster Ave., Villanova PA 19085.
