Gladys Shavney (nee Porch), age 89, passed away after a brief illness on December 28th, 2022 at her residence at The Devon Senior Living retirement community.

She was the eldest daughter of Gladys and William Porch of Southwest, Philadelphia. Gladys attended Most Blessed Sacrament school and graduated from John Bartram High School in 1951.  She worked for many years at the New Eagle Elementary School in Wayne and truly enjoyed her job, adored the children and finally retired at the age of 85. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption parish in Strafford, where she met dear friends and was a regular at the vigil mass. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching movies, listening to talk radio, decorating for the holidays, collecting angel figurines, passing time at the pool and getting her hair done on Saturdays.

She is survived by her three children; Kevin Shavney (Liz), Colleen Foley, and Maureen Dubow (Ivan), grandchildren; Patrick (Kathleen), Cassandra, Phoenix, Chase, and great-grandson, Jackson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald (d.2017) who she was happily married to for 58 years, her dear sister Bernice Porch and her cherished parents.

Gladys will be most remembered as a kind, sweet, devout lady that never complained and always shared her large and genuine smile. Upon learning of her passing a friend said "they just don't make them like your mother anymore". Gladys will be sadly missed by many who adored her especially her two daughters and grandsons.

Services will be private for the family.
