George F. Wells Jr., age 81, of Avalon Manor, NJ, formerly from Bryn Mawr, Pa passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015. Born March 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Mae Elizabeth (Dinan) Wells and George F. Wells. Raised in Mt. Lebanon, PA. he graduated from the local high school then went on to Pennsylvania Military College graduating as Second Lt. in 1956. Upon which, he entered active service in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the 82nd Airborne in 1958 as a First Lt. he became an active member of the Reserve.


On August 3rd, 1957 he married the late Nancy L. Sheridan of Ardmore, and they were married for 31 years. He was the devoted father of Diana (Keith) Schaffer, Ken (Ernestine) Wells, Beverly, Brenda (Michael) Gray, George, III. and Jacqueline (Brian) Hasson. Loving grandfather of James, Andrew and Victoria Schaffer, Ryan and Dalton Wells, Michael and Matthew Gray, Ashley and Tyler Hasson. Dear brother of the late Elizabeth Jane Cater.

Prior to retiring in 1997 he worked as an Industrial Engineer and Plant Manager for various organizations. His family remained the center of his life followed by his love for fishing, history, cooking, photography and boating.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 12, 10:30 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 380 Highland Ln., Bryn Mawr, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church from 8:30 to 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
