Gary W. Stroup, of Villanova, PA and Stone Harbor, NJ, passed away on March 29, 2024.  He was 90.

Son of Dr. Goodell W. and Margaret (Gallagher) Stroup, Gary was born in Darby, PA on February 14, 1934.  He graduated from St. Joseph's Prep and Villanova University and spent two years in the U.S. Army.  Gary subsequently worked for the Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company for 35 years.

Gary was an avid supporter of Villanova athletics and a football and basketball season ticket holder for more than six decades.  He was also a member of the Overbrook Golf Club for 25 years.  Gary loved spending his summers at his home in Stone Harbor, NJ, where he was a long-time member of the Stone Harbor Yacht Club.

Gary was the beloved husband of Eileen Stroup (nee McCall), whom he married in 1963.  He was also the devoted father of Stephen G. (Kathleen) and Scott G. Stroup, loving grandfather of Patrick and Olivia Stroup, and dear brother of Margery Reilly.

Relatives and friends are invited on Monday, April 15th, Visitation at 9:30 AM with Memorial Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Church (on University Campus), 800 Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA. Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation .
