November 3, 1964 – February 13, 2026
Fred "Tooch" Amatucci, born November 3, 1964, in Darby, PA passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Luigi and Mary Joan (Morris) Amatucci. Fred is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Kathleen (Murray) Amatucci. His sons Austin (Maura), Dillon (Camryn), and Jake (Alexis). Fred is also survived by his sister's Anne Marie (Dave) Amatucci, Mary Anne Amatucci, and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Fred graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1983. Following graduation from high school Fred began working as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for Delaware County. Fred then went on to work for the Springfield Township Police Department as a dispatcher in 1988. Fred was also hired as a bus driver in 1988 for the Upper Darby School District. Following Fred's retirement as a bus driver in 2016, he began working as a security guard overnight for the school district. Fred also spent time working for the Philadelphia Phillies as a Security Guard and Game Day Welcome Staff Member and as a shuttle bus driver for the Wells Fargo Center. Fred was an avid sports fan. He loved the Phillies, Flyers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State, and NASCAR. In Fred's later years he was transitioning to an Eagles fan.
Fred was an Eagle Scout, Lifetime Member with the Upper Darby Fire Department, Volunteer Firefighter with the Bon Air Fire Company, a previous member of Greater Overbrook String Band, an avid movie watcher (Hallmark Channel) and was very active in the community as a volunteer and coach (UDHL, Drexel Hill Little League, UDFC Soccer). Fred could often be seen at multiple events throughout the community volunteering his time by running concessions stands or gathering donations for events. Fred was also one of Santa's biggest helpers. Fred would help Santa during the holiday season and go around town on the firetruck to get pictures with the children and hand out candy canes.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday February 19th from 5 to 8 PM at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Ave., Drexel Hill, PA 19026. There will be another viewing at the church on Friday February 20th from 9:30 to 11:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private for the family at a later date.
