Fr. Augustine Michael Esposito, O.S.A., passed way on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the age of 69.   He was a member of the Augustinian Community of St. Thomas Monastery, Villanova, PA.

Son of the late Augustine and Emma (Magliocco) Esposito, he is survived by his sisters Theresa Scanlon, Tootsie DiCampli, Grace August, nieces, nephews, and members of his Augustinian community. He was preceded in death by his brother Nicholas and sister Marianne DiGiondomenico.

After ordination in 1979, Fr. Esposito served in parochial ministry in the Bronx, NY and following doctoral studies taught at Villanova University (1988-1990 and 2012-2014). From 1991-2001, he was Professor of Spanish, Spiritual Director, and Chair of the Pastoral Theology Department at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, PA.  He was President of Monsignor Bonner High School (later joined with Archbishop Prendergast) from 2002-2009. He gave retreats both nationally and internationally, and served one year each at Malvern Preparatory School, Malvern, PA and St. Augustine Prep, Richland, NJ. Returning to St. Charles Seminary as Professor of Spanish, he was later appointed temporary Vice-Rector.

There will be a viewing at St. Charles Seminary Chapel on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 -6:00 pm.  Another viewing on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 9:30 - 10:20 am at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on the campus of Villanova University, followed by his funeral Mass at 10:30 am.  Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken, PA.
