Florina M. Gogarnoiu (nee Tomescu) passed away on Monday August 30, 2010 at her residence in Wynnewood, PA. She was 52

The blessed daughter of Florina Dascalu and the late Ion Tomescu, she was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1957. She was a 1980 graduate of The University of Bucharest with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literature. Previously in 1973, at the age of 16, she was featured in Romanian national cultural magazine for her art work. This was followed by three personal exhibitions in Bucharest in 1975. After coming to the United States in 1981, she went back to school to pursue her love for art by enrolling in a one year intensive course at Parsons School of Design in New York. Her communication skills and artistic talent landed Florina in the fashion industry where she had many jobs in fashion illustration, textile design, and marketing. In 1995, after the experience and success she attained in her work, she attended and graduated with an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation she was an Associate Consultant for The Center for Applied Research from 1995-2001 and a Principal for Priority Management Consulting from 2001- 2010. Despite her consulting job Florina kept a busy artistic life by exhibiting her work on various occasions in and around the Philadelphia area. She was a member of Main Line Art Center, Wayne Art Center and MCGOPA (Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists).

She was the beloved wife of Dumitru "Danny" Gogarnoiu. Loving mother of Emma. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Nicolae & Aurica Gogarnoiu; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Melania & Rodolfo Gianserra; nephews Victtorio and Nicholas and niece Carola.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Thursday September 2, from 7 to 9 PM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA or Friday from 9 to 10 AM at Descent of the Holy Spirit Church, 1323 Ashbourne Rd., Elkins Park, PA. 19027 with Funeral Mass to commence at 10 AM. Interment will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
