Elizabeth "Betty" Bole (nee Walsh), age 90, of Bryn Mawr, PA., formerly of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday July 16, 2018 at Beaumont Retirement Community in Bryn Mawr, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Walsh and Elizabeth Walsh (nee Heffernan).
Betty was the beloved wife of the late William J. Bole. Devoted mother of William J., Jr. (Caroline), Stacie Bole (James Muller), Elizabeth Kane (James), Terrence J. (Jean), Anne Mullen (Timothy), Marguerite Lee (John) and Christine Lesko (Glenn). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her dear brother Joseph J. Walsh.
Betty grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1945. She worked for a year at one of the Philadelphia newspapers to pay for college and then graduated from Immaculata University with degrees in Mathematics and Physics in 1950. She also went on to receive her Masters of Education at Temple University and worked as a school teacher in the Philadelphia School System.
In 1956 she married William J. Bole and raised their family in Wayne, PA. She was an active member for many years at St. Katharine of Siena Parish in Wayne, PA and was a longtime volunteer for the Women's Exchange in Wayne, PA. Betty enjoyed a longtime membership at Overbrook Golf Club and the Nine Holer's. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary, St. Edmond's Home for Children, and served on the Board of Trustees at Immaculata University. She lived and actively enjoyed her last 11 years at Beaumont Retirement Community in Bryn Mawr, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday July 23, 10:30 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster & Aberdeen Aves., Wayne, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at the Church from 9 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Edmond's Home for Children, 320 S. Roberts Rd., Rosemont PA 19010.
