Obituary

Edward Caterson, III., passed away on Wednesday June 6, 2007 at his residence in Rosemont, PA. He was 87.

Son of the late Edward H. and Julia O'Connell Caterson, Ed was born in Mt. Vernon, NY. in 1920. He was a graduate of Iona Prep in New Rochelle, NY and Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY., where he received his degree from the school of engineering. At both Iona Prep and Manhattan College, Ed served as captain of the tennis team. He worked as an engineer in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during World War II. Later, Ed started working for his father in the steel industry as a manufacturer's representative. In 1954 he started his own company in Philadelphia, Rolled Steel Products Corp. of PA. The company later moved to Bala Cynwyd, then Narberth and finally Berwyn.

Ed was a member of Overbrook Golf Club since 1968. He was an accomplished Bridge player and was past-president of the Philadelpha Whist league and the Main Line Bridge League. He also continued to play competitive tennis for many years.

Ed was the beloved husband of the late Grace Quinn Caterson, whom he married on September 5, 1942. He was the devoted father of Patricia C. Rowley (the late James), Sheila C. Fehrenbach (Karl) and Edward H. Caterson (Laura). Loving grandfather of Tricia, Jim, Jennifer, Kevin, Nicole, Erik, Dana, E.J., and Robin. Great-grandfather of Meg, Hogan, James, Vivienne, Patrick, Emerson, Cecilia, Linc and Rex.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday June 12, 10:00 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Church (Univ. Campus), Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday from 7 to 9 PM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Assoc., 100 N. 17th St., 2nd Floor, Phila. PA 19103 or to Manhattan College, Manhattan College Parkway, Riverdale, NY 10471.
