Dorothy B. Tague

Dorothy “Dode” Tague (née Beausang), age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, on July 15, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on April 15, 1939, Dode was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, treasured friend, extraordinary volunteer, and lover of life. She leaves an enduring legacy of kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. Dode never met a stranger. Her warm heart, welcoming spirit, and genuine compassion made her a cherished friend to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Dode was born to Michael Frank Beausang and Elizabeth “Betts” Beausang and grew up in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, alongside her two brothers, Michael Francis and John Barnum Beausang. She attended Penn Wynne Elementary School before graduating from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore. While at Lower Merion, she participated in field hockey and lacrosse and proudly served as Co-Captain of the Cheerleading Squad.

It was there that she cheered on her favorite football player—and future husband—Barry Elwert Tague. Their relationship began when Dode was a junior and Barry was a senior, growing into a remarkable love story that lasted a lifetime. Barry often called Dode his “most special angel,” and together they shared a love unlike any other.

After high school, Dode worked at Wyeth Laboratories and attended Gwynedd Mercy College. On May 14, 1960, she married the love of her life, Barry.

Together, Barry and Dode raised four children—two daughters and two sons. While family was always Dode’s greatest priority, she also devoted countless hours to serving her community.

She and Barry both served as PTO Presidents at Ithan Elementary School. Dode was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughters’ troops and Cubmaster for her sons’ Cub Scout packs. In 1979, she established the school store at Radnor High School, often purchasing supplies herself for students who were unable to afford them.

Following her breast cancer diagnosis, Dode became even more committed to helping others. In 1989, she was appointed Chairwoman of the Radnor Township Park Board, a position she held for thirteen years. She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society, compassionately fitting breast cancer patients with prostheses and post-surgical garments. Whether opening her home, lending a helping hand, or simply offering encouragement, Dode never hesitated to care for those in need.

She was also an accomplished knitter and generously shared her talent with family and friends, teaching many to create sweaters, hats, scarves, blankets, and mittens that became treasured gifts for generations.

As one of the earliest members of Waynesborough Country Club, Dode served for many years as Chairwoman of the 18-Holers and the Junior Golf Program. She loved the game of golf, but even more, she loved sharing it with Barry and their children. She also enjoyed playing tennis and creating lifelong family memories through golf, tennis, and ski vacations.

Barry and Dode embraced every opportunity for adventure. Together they traveled extensively with family and friends, enjoying ski trips, tropical vacations, summers in Avalon, New Jersey, time in the Pocono Mountains, and, most recently, an unforgettable African safari. Barry delighted in celebrating Dode with memorable birthday and anniversary surprises, including a weekend in Baltimore, a tropical escape to the Ocean Club in Nassau, an elegant dinner at Windows on the World in New York City, formerly The World Trade Center and a special trip to Ireland, where they stayed at the Park Hotel Kenmare.

Above all else, Dode was a devoted wife and mother. She made her family’s happiness her life’s work. From piano lessons and golf instruction to baseball games, ice hockey, tennis matches, and every milestone in between, Dode was always there—encouraging, cheering, and celebrating each accomplishment. She gave her time, her energy, and her love without hesitation. Her unwavering support helped shape the lives of her children, who will forever be grateful for the example she set.

Dode is now reunited with her beloved Barry, the love of her life, and rests peacefully in his embrace.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Lally (Robert) and Nancy Healy; her sons, Barry Elwert Tague Jr. (Anna) and Edward James Tague III (Shannon); her ten grandchildren, Kelsey, Jack, Peter, Caroline, Bridget, Tim, Nicole, Olivia, Michael, and Emme; her two great-grandchildren, Skip and Ryan; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Elwert Tague; her parents, Michael Frank and Elizabeth “Betts” Beausang; and her brothers, Michael Francis Beausang and John Barnum Beausang.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026. There will be an 11:00 am Welcome followed by a 12:00 PM Service at Christ Church Ithan, 536 Conestoga Rd., Villanova PA 19085. A luncheon reception will be held following the service at a location to be determined and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the Tague family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s memory to support Phelan-McDermid Syndrome research through CureSHANK or the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation, or to the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Thomas Jefferson University.
