Doris McCallister Frazier, 85, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease at Riddle Village Retirement Community, Media, PA on June 23, 2007. Mrs. Frazier graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1939 and married her high-school sweetheart, Eugene L. Frazier, who died in 1972. She was the daughter of the late David F. McCallister of McCallisters & Sons Caterers, and Lillian O'Donnell McCallister, Artist.
A 51-year resident of Merion Golf Manor in Ardmore, Mrs. Frazier moved to Riddle Village in 2003. She was a member of Ardmore Presbyterian Church and Merion Golf Club where she participated in the Philadelphia Women's Interclub Championships as a member of the Merion Women's Teams for many years. Winner of numerous tournaments including the Merion Women's Club Championship, she and daughters Alison and Diane played in the regional Mater et Filia. She served on the Philadelphia Women's Golf Association Executive Board. During many vacations, she played outstanding golf courses throughout the US including Pinehurst, Mauna Lani, and Pebble Beach.
In the 1970s, Mrs. Frazier worked with the Volunteer Services for the Blind as a Braille transcriber and, among other projects, translated books for blind medical students. Her other interests included coordinating Upper Darby High School Reunions for the class of 1939. She took courses in tax law and accounting at Villanova University. In later years, she worked for Doctors Clair, Classen, and Nelson of Bryn Mawr retiring at the age of 77.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Margaret Diane and John Hartnett III of Milton, DE; Cynthia Frazier-Rogers and Raymond Rogers of Standish, ME; Christine and Paul Pumarada of Royersford, PA; and Alison Jo Frazier and Roberto Fischer of East Coventry, PA. and her brother Harry McCallister of Swarthmore, PA. Her four grandchildren John Hartnett IV, Andrew Hartnett Sr.; Kelly Frazier-Clark; and Christine Dinger, and her seven great grandchildren John Hartnett V, Dana Hartnett, Andrew Hartnett, Jr., Skylar Hartnett, Heather Hartnett, Blake Dinger, and Luke Dinger also survive Mrs. Frazier. Her son, Eugene L. Frazier, Jr., her parents, her brother David F. McCallister, Jr., and her sister Lillian M. Ferris predeceased her.
The family invites friends and extended family to a Memorial Service for Mrs. Frazier on Friday June 29, 11:00 AM at Ardmore Presbyterian Church, Montgomery Ave. & Mill Creek Rd., Ardmore, PA.
