Dennis Patrick Woods, known affectionately to family and friends as "Woody", passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on June 18, 2026, in Glen Mills, PA at the age of 88.
Born on October 28, 1937, in New York City, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Sieyes) Woods. After their passing, Denny and his brother moved to Narberth, PA and were raised by their aunt and uncle, John and Beatrice Sweeney and their family. Denny graduated from St. Thomas Moore High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He spent most of his Air Force career in the Philippines. After the military, Denny spent 35 years working at the Narberth Post Office. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Virginia Mary (Ginny) Cashman. They married on August 5, 1967, at St. Margaret’s Church and built a beautiful life together in Narberth where they lived for 50 years and raised their four daughters.
Denny was a very grateful and fun-loving man with a great sense of humor. He was always the life of the party sporting his famous green Masters jacket. He enjoyed playing and watching golf and never missed many Phillies games. He taught all his girls how to drive, how to play basketball and softball and he never said no to shooting hoops. He loved going to watch his grandkids' sports games. He had a love of Manhattans, the Phillies and traveling. Denny enjoyed vacationing every year in Saugerties, NY and Lake Winnipesaukee, NH where he relaxed, fished, and spent time with family.
On any given day, you could find him walking around Narberth, saying hello to friends, telling a joke, stopping in Mapes, the Greeks or Ricklins, playing pool and always lending a hand if asked. After retiring from the post office, Denny began working part-time at St. Margaret's Church, a place which always brought him peace.
Most importantly, he will be remembered for being the most incredible and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Denny is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ginny (Cashman) Woods, his four daughters, Liz (Gary) McIlvaine, Patti (Chris) Robideau, Colleen Cahill and Carolyn Woods, 11 grandchildren: Christina, Kelly, Brittany, Kourtney, Katie, Sienna, Andrew, Sydney, James, Matthew and Nathan, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Woods and his wife Mary, his cousins who he grew up with: Suzanne (Frank) Spollen, Catherine (William) Prendergast, and Theresa (John) Albright.
Family and friends are invited on Thursday, June 25, 2026, to a Visitation from 9:00 to 10:15 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Margaret’s Church, 208 North Narberth Ave, Narberth, PA 19072. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken PA 19428
