Deborah Ann
Lewis Meloni
October 22, 1958 – April 25, 2022
Deborah Ann Lewis Meloni, therapist, health care worker, active church and community volunteer, dance and hiking enthusiast and devoted wife and mother of three sons, died on April 25th at her home in Gladwyne, after a nearly two year battle with ampullary cancer.
Debbie grew up in Gladwyne with her older sister and her parents: her father a cardiologist, and her mother a homemaker. She graduated from Lafayette College in 1980, majoring in psychology. After earning her M.S.W. at Bryn Mawr College in 1982, she worked as a counselor in the cardiovascular surgery unit of Lankenau Medical Center and the neonatal unit of Bryn Mawr Hospital.
In 1984, she married Frank Meloni, and they eventually settled in Gladwyne.
While raising their three sons, she plunged into a variety of professional and community jobs. She taught psychology at Neuman College. She was a social worker for two adoption agencies, and worked for Life Counseling Services. For many years, she also worked part-time in the office of Dr. William Sherwin.
With a deep love of people and the environment, and a caring countenance, along with an irrepressible sense of humor, she engaged in life through numerous activities which contributed to the world and drew people to her.
An active member at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, she served on the Altar Guild and as a lay Chalice Bearer. She also threw herself into work at Azalea Day, co-chairing booths, as well as the entire fair for several years. An avid hiker, she served on the board of Bridlewild Trails Association, an organization committed to maintaining the trails through the woods in Lower Merion.
She embraced life in all its glory: She loved traveling with her family, hiking, tennis, music, yoga, and dancing; as well as long walks on the beach and taking in thousands of sunsets at Sea Isle. Through it all, she was always passionate about and committed to nurturing her family and extended family.
Debbie is survived by her husband Frank, her three sons, Stephen, Gregory and Michael, her daughter-in-law Sherin, as well as her sister, seven nieces and nephews, and seven grand nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Friday April 29, 11:00 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 226 Righters Mill Rd., Gladwyne PA. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 226 Righters Mill Road, Gladwyne, PA. 19035.
