Daniel J. Bugey, of Haverford, PA., died suddenly of a heart attack on February 22, 2009. Mr. Bugey was Postmaster of Darby, PA. He was 69.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia, the son of Walter A. and Julia Mae Sullivan Bugey. He was an all-star basketball player at West Catholic Boys High School where he was named to All-City and All-Catholic teams in 1957 and 1958. He was a Maxwell Club award winner. He attended St. Joseph's University where he played on the 1961 basketball team that went to the NCAA Final Four. He graduated in 1962 with a B.S. in Psychology and then earned an MBA in Industrial Relations from Drexel University in 1968.
He was employed as an Industrial Relations Manager at Philco Ford Company until 1974 when he became Human Resources Manager. He later became Postmaster in 1993.
He is survived by his two daughters, Valerie B. Bowman of Villanova and Kristine B. Smith (Grove) of Ardmore. Three grandchildren: R.J. and Claudia Bowman and Logan Smith. His sister Roberta Farrell of Chadds Ford; brothers Robert J. Bugey of Ardmore and Walter Bugey of West Chester and his former wife Marie A. Patterson of Wayne.
Funeral Mass Friday February 27, 10:30 AM Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Rd., Bryn Mawr, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Church after 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
