She wrote articles about the Corps and managed the release of information to the public and to journalists on the activities of the Corps in the Philadelphia District. Her responsibilities also included crafting employee communications as well as serving as EEO officer.

Mrs. Dean and her husband retired from their careers on the same day in 1989. They admired old automobiles and owned several prize-winning vintage Lincolns and one Chevrolet which they displayed in various car shows.

She is survived by her daughter Constance E. Dean (Alexander Doto), a son Jerome F. Dean (Marianne), and three grandsons: Michael K., Brian J. and Matthew T. Dean.
