Clinton A.
Stuntebeck
May 25, 1938 – June 4, 2022
Clinton Stuntebeck, of Radnor PA, died peacefully on June 4, 2022. He was 84 years old.
He was born in Nashwauk MN on May 25, 1938, to Sanny Mary Conti and Robert Stuntebeck. He was the oldest child with three lovely sisters, Juanita , K athy and Charlotte, and younger brother Bobby. Many of Clint ' s early years were spent on his grandparent ' s farm before his family moved to Hibbing MN when his father became the head electrician at the local mine. His father could fix just about anything and he learned a lot helping his dad build their family home. Hibbing became home and Clint was very active playing football, basketball, and baseball . In his spare time he was visiting his five aunts and cousins and adhering to the tradition of Sunday dinner at his grandmothers . Hibbing is where Clint learned the importance of family and serving the community which guided his life for over 80 years.
Upon graduating high school, he attended the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate BA degree. After undergrad, Clint served in the United State Air Force as a Captain and Flight Examiner Navigator for 8 years. He had over 3,000 hours of flying time on missions in Vietnam and worldwide. While stationed at the Dover Air Force Base he met his wife, Mary Joan Carmody and they married on November 23, 1963. Clint ' s Air Force duties took the couple to Maxwell Air Force base in Birmingham AL for Officer Squadron training where they welcomed their first-born child Robin. They moved back to Dover where they welcomed their second child Mary All ys on and then while still serving, they moved to Maine so he could attend law school. While attending the University of Maine School of Law, Mary had their third child Susan. Clint always reflected back on the sacrifices Mary made in raising three beautiful young girls while he was busy studying for the bar.
Upon graduation from law school Clint, Mary and the girls moved to Pennsylvania when he began his 35-year career working as a corporate and securities lawyer for Schnader Harrison Segal and Lewis, admitted to the practice in 1969. The same year they welcomed their son, John Clinton, who was born in Philadelphia. Then in 1973 the family moved to Radnor Township where they created a beautiful home. In 1978, William Carmody was born, and the family finally settled , living in th eir Radnor community for 45 years. 371 Rose Glen Drive was a very special place they called home.
While in Radnor Township Clint pursued his dreams of community service and devoting his time. He served on several boards including his signature 23 ½ years on the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners representing the 2 nd Ward. During his 6-term tenure Clint tackled major issues which have shaped Radnor Township to this day including minimizing the impact of the Blue Route, the P&W Rail to Trail, the acquisition of the Willows, and the negotiation f or land to build the Radnor Elementary School. Many residents wanted to limit the institutional encroachment by corporations and Clint fought hard to acquire open space and preserve the residential character of Radnor, which led to the formation of the Gateway Enhancement Project and the Radnor Enhancement Community Trust. Throughout his career Clint served as an independent director of public and private company boards and was an active fundraiser for charitable and community organizations and various candidates for public office.
Clint was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many and always sought to serve his community. He was a coach and spectator, thoroughly enjoying watching his children, grandchildren, and community flourish.
He was an active sports enthusiast and die-hard Eagles and Villanova supporter. He enjoyed just about any sport, but his favorites were football, cycling, golf and skiing. He was introduced to sailing by his good friends and became an avid sailor on the Chesapeake Bay. He eventually found a love for ocean sailing with many excursions to Newport RI and Martha ' s Vineyard. Clint and Mary had amazing adventures with family, friends and all those that stepped onboard the Concordia. He was fortunate, owning three sailboats during his life, each creating wonderful unique experiences traveling throughout the East coast.
Clint and Mary were also active skiers and travelers with dear friends that remained close for decades. They traveled the world, but their favorite family vacation spots included the Chesapeake Bay, Martha ' s Vineyard, Newport, RI, and Italy.
Family, friends, faith, community, and country were a constant in Clint ' s amazing life experiences. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and cherished Radnor, Philadelphia, and his hometown of Hibbing.
Clint ' s beautiful wife, Mary, passed away in 2015 but they had such a wonderful life together. He is adored by his five children, Robin, Mary All y son, Susan, John and Will, spouses Geoff, Michael, and Christina, and his 10 wonderful grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Zachary, James, Blake, Macaul a y, Skyl a r, Jackson, Maceo and Bishop.
