Obituary

Clara Sunta Deily, 92, of Bryn Mawr, passed from this life Sunday evening, July 1, 2018 at Kindred
Hospital in Havertown, PA.

Clara was born November 29, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Myron Bonham Deily and Mercedes Cabanillas
Deily. Clara's tireless work ethic, love of her family and caring personality served her well throughout her
life.

Clara graduated from Temple University with a BS in Accounting with honors followed by an MBA also
from Temple (Phi Delta Gamma Award for outstanding graduate studies). She spent 17 years at Abbott
Dairies working in their accounting department. From 1966 – 1982, she was Chief Accountant then
promoted to Controller at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). From 1982 – 1992 she
finished her business career working as the Corporate Controller for the Catholic Medical Center. Clara
earned many accolades including: Chapel of the Four Chaplains – Legion of Honor Membership;
Temple, School of Business Administration Alumni/AE Hall of Fame; Follmer Bronze Medal Award
(Hospital Finance Management Association); Joseph Ladislaw Award, Catholic Medical Center.

In retirement Clara volunteered for many years at HUP earning in 2000 at age 75 the Abrahamsohn
Volunteer Award for "enhancing the pleasure of patients and staff at HUP".

Clara also served as a Board Member and Registrar at the Society of Mayflowers Descendants in
Pennsylvania for many years; and Treasurer of the Fuller Society. In addition, she was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Myron B. Deily and survived by her nephews Christopher Deily
(Diane), Steven Deily (Laura); and her nieces, Sylvia Deily (William) and Jessica Tiongson (Charles) and
their respective families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 am, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Our Mother of Good
Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. A private burial will follow at Resurrection
Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Clara's full time caregiver Daliah Murphy who
gently and graciously cared for Clara for nearly 10 years.
