Obituary

Charles Joseph Tague, Jr., age 73, attorney and life-long resident of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021.  Charles was a member of Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish; he graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School, LaSalle University, and Villanova University School of Law.  Charlie loved his family, the practice of law, and the Jersey Shore.  But more than anything, he loved making people laugh.  He was uniquely blessed with the ability to argue passionately for his clients, while remaining humble, and even slipping in a joke or two.  His love of the beach led him to Sea Isle, NJ, where he spent youthful summer days body surfing by day and bartending at Busch's by night.  He later purchased a second home in Ocean City, NJ.  No longer bussing tables, he continued to body surf – as long as the lifeguards were still on duty.

Ocean City was Charlie's own piece of heaven, right here on earth.  He loved having friends and family down for weeks at a time.  If you haven't broken a knick-knack at Charlie's shore house, then you simply weren't spending enough time there.  On beach days, he'd load you up with all the gear you needed from the garage and advise that Seaspray beach was closer, but the waves broke better on the North Street beach.  And sunscreen – never forget the sunscreen.  After the beach, the windows were opened wide and The Endless Summer was a strongly recommended viewing option.  Regardless of the show, Charlie ended the evening in the recliner, drifting off to sleep with a glass of milk, surrounded by the salt air and friends and family that loved him dearly.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Tague, and his sister, Gertrude Ullrich.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen "Kathy" Tague; his son Stephen, daughter in law Elissa, and granddaughter, James Jules "JJ"; his brother David Tague, sister-in-law Lisa, and nephew Dylan; his sister Anne Tague Eichman, brother-in-law John Heuisler, and nieces Andrea Eichman and Stephanie Maybeck; his brother-in-law George Ullrich, his nieces Erika Huck and Christie Barcus; his nephew Michael Ullrich; and cousins many beloved cousins.

Funeral services and interment will be private due to concerns involving Covid-19.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you please make a donation in Charlie's name to the charity of your choice.
