Charles Edward Hewins, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2016. He was 92 years old.

Born on January 19, 1924, in Hampton, VA, Charley was raised on the Chesapeake Bay, where he developed a passion for all things nautical and as a young man, served in the U.S. Navy. A fine artist by nature, as well as trade, Charley earned his BFA from Swarthmore College and eventually his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. As an art teacher for over 25 years at Frankford High School, in Philadelphia, Charley was adored by so many of his students.

He is survived by his five children and former-wife.
