Obituary

Celia Welsh Creskoff died on November 10, 2023. Her warm heart, generous spirit, quick wit and zest for life will be treasured always.

Celia was born in 1942 at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital to Dorothy I. Murphy and Henry C. Welsh, Jr. of Merion, Pennsylvania. Celia attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart Overbrook, with a two- year boarding experience at Sacred Heart Montreal. She attended Newton College (now Boston College) in Massachusetts for two years, and returned to the Philadelphia area and graduated with a degree in history from Rosemont College. Celia subsequently earned a Master's in Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966. Celia had a long career in education, including as a history teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and later at the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, before moving on to the Episcopal Academy, where she worked for 23 years primarily as the Associate Director of College Guidance.

Celia always championed the idea of filling one's "memory bank" with joyful and interesting experiences, travel, and time with friends and family. Celia's memory bank was filled to the brim and she inspired countless others to fill theirs as well.

Celia leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, Lewis G. Creskoff; her adored children, Daniel F. Creskoff (Becky) and Katharine C. Garvey (Matthew); her cherished grandchildren: Thomas and Joya Creskoff and Luke, Isabel and Colin Garvey; and her treasured friend and honorary sister, Nancy Fredericks Joyce. She is predeceased by her dear brothers Henry C. Welsh, III and Richard T. Welsh.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Monday November 20th,  Visitation from 10 to 11 AM with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Rd., Bryn Mawr, PA.  Interment will be private at a later date.
