Barbara Vaughan Watson, formerly of Bryn Mawr, PA., passed away on Friday October 24, 2008 at her residence in Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, PA. She celebrated her 100th birthday in July.
She was the beloved wife of the late William D. Watson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Martha Seifert; grandchildren Charles V., Donald T., Richard L. and Barbara A. Seifert and Judith Seaman; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Charles Parker and Fannie Winthrop Vaughan, she was born in Peabody, MA in 1908. During WWII, while her husband was serving overseas, she was a Red Cross volunteer packing boxes and driving service men to V.A. Hospitals. She traveled extensively enjoying all seven continents. She became proficient at transcribing Braille and spent 50 years volunteering for the Associated Services for the Blind in Philadelphia. She was a life-long member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church and a long time member of Philadelphia Country Club.
Services and interment are private at the family's request.
