Anthony DeCrescenzo, formerly of Ardmore, PA., passed away on Thursday October 8, 2009 at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, PA. He was 96.
Son of the late Cesidio and Marie Marinacci DeCrescenzo, he was born in Shamokin, PA in 1913. Anthony was owner-operator of Anthony DeCrescenzo Store Fixtures Inc., a primary supplier of store fixtures and architectural woodwork for supermarkets and other retail establishments throughout the greater Philadelphia area for 25 years. His passion was coaching baseball, which he did for over 15 years at all levels from Cub Scouts to American Legion, teaching the game he loved. He was also very active in the Main Line Baseball Association where he served as an officer and league commissioner.
He was the beloved husband of Adele DeCrescenzo (nee Grassi). Devoted father of Anthony Jr. (Katherine) and Dante (Mary-Beth). Loving grandfather of Laurah (Leif), Lisa, Anthony III. (Carrie), Gina Marie (Paul), Dante Jr. (Diana), Deanne and Mia; great-grandfather of Gunnar Alexi, Joey, Emily and Anthony IV. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Rose, Philomena, Lucy, Alberta and Matilda.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday October 13, 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Church, Youngsford & Conshohocken State Rds., Gladwyne, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the Church after 9:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
