She attended Villa Duchesne boarding school in St. Louis and later Duchesne Residence School in New York City. Her family spent summers in Amagansett, Long Island, where she developed a lifelong love of the water and sailing, and a deep connection to the community.

Mrs. Floyd began her professional career at IBM in New York City. While living in the city, she met her future husband, Robert Patrick Floyd, Jr., at a college tea dance. Her most cherished civic organization was the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, where she volunteered continuously beginning in 1962 and was a member of its Executive Board for many years. She served for eight years with Women's Way, supporting women's health and human services in Philadelphia. Mrs. Floyd was also a lifelong member of the Junior League, contributing her time and leadership to causes that strengthened her community.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by her son, Robert Patrick Floyd, III (Laura) of Annapolis, Maryland; her son, John Speed Floyd (Stacy) of Dagsboro, Delaware; and her daughter, Alexandra Floyd Bray (Jim) of Severna Park, Maryland.
