Adrienne Ruth
Marasco Rodgers
October 16, 1934 – April 29, 2024
Adrienne M. Rodgers of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at Waverly Heights on April 29, 2024 with her family by her side through her final days. Adrienne was born in Philadelphia on October 16, 1934. She was the third child of Vincent Marasco and Jenny Pellegrino Marasco. She was predeceased by her older siblings Norma Marasco Kehoe and Roland Marasco. She is survived by her younger sister, Jeraldine Marasco Kohut.
Adrienne attended Philadelphia High School for Girls, class of 1952. After her high school graduation, she continued her education at Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. Adrienne excelled in all aspects of her chosen career, both in the classroom and on the ward administering to patients. A woman of great compassion, she performed her nursing duties tirelessly, always with a smile and a kind word for all.
Adrienne was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph Francis Rodgers, whom she met while both at Jefferson, Adrienne working as a registered nurse, and Joseph finishing up his medical school studies. They were wed on December 29, 1956. Soon after, Adrienne transitioned to motherhood. She devoted herself to her new role, relishing her life, creating a secure and happy environment for her loved ones. In addition, she was an extremely involved member of their extended families, which was a commitment she lovingly and unconditionally embraced. During these years, Adrienne was also involved in many volunteer positions at Jefferson Hospital, one being president of the Women's Board. Her positions were varied through the years, but she served willingly and positively, a champion of the Jefferson cause.
With her quick, easy disposition, she developed strong friendships along the way, be it playing tennis, traveling with their friends, beaching with family, raising her children or simply being "Adrienne".
She continued her academic pursuits, and at age 52 took on the ambitious commitment of enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts undergraduate program at Rosemont College earning a degree in English Literature. She was quite proud of this achievement and met the challenge of adult education with her customary enthusiasm. Also, at this busy time in her life, she developed a love of sculpting. She began with lessons at The Main Line Art Center, taking classes, which she continued for many years with the production of many beautiful pieces some of which have been showcased as well as gifted to those that admired her work.
But Adrienne's strongest and most longstanding love was that she had for her family. There was nothing she would not do for her husband, children and their families if the need arose. She was the loving constant, the shining star in all of their lives.
Adrienne is survived by her four children. Pamela Rodgers (Jack), Donna Rodgers Arronson (Dave), James Rodgers (Eileen), and David Rodgers (Laurie), eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. All of whom will miss her tremendously.
